The Local Area

The local market town of Sauzé Vaussais is only a 5 minute drive away. There are two supermarkets, a boulangerie, tabac and other shops in the town. Every Thursday morning there is a traditional market where you can buy fresh locally grown produce. For more shopping choices you could go to Ruffec or Poitiers.

In Chef Boutonne is the Château de Javarzay which houses a museum of headdresses. Open Easter to October. There is a open space around the lake at the rear of the château, ideal for picnics, or a leisurely walk.
